Shinsuke Nakamura Opens Up About Having More Tag Team Matches As Intercontinental Champion

By | January 5, 2022

Shinsuke Nakamura made a name for himself in NJPW, where he was the King Of Strong Style and touted as one of the best pro wrestlers in the world. He would eventually sign with WWE and has had a decent career in the company so far. It seems he opened up about his current booking in WWE.

Nakamura would join the world of pro wrestling way back in 2002 and has been an active competitor since then. Many fans feel Nakamura hasn’t been used as well as he should be in WWE.

Nakamura has also been paired up with Ric Boogs for a long time now. While speaking to Tokyo Sports, Nakamura opened up about wrestling in more tag team matches than singles despite being a champion.

“After all, I want to get involved in the highest throne. I have the Intercontinental Championship, but I often team up with Boogs, and I have more tag matches than singles. Come to think of it, everyone is in a duo. Like veterans and young people.

Even in NXT, it’s like handsome (Jiro) and KUSHIDA. Is it to increase the chances of appearing on the program together, while raising young talent by forming a combination? Anyway, since I came to WWE, I can achieve the Grand Slam if I get one WWE World Championship, so I would like to aim for that.”

Shinsuke Nakamura is currently the WWE Intercontinental Champion since winning it back in March. It remains to be seen whether Nakamura will ever be given a main event level push in the future as he stated he wants a full-fledged feud with Roman Reigns.
