Bron Breakker is the new top dog on the WWE NXT brand. The rookie defeated veteran superstar Tommaso Ciampa at New Year’s Evil to become the new NXT Champion. Breakker’s rise to stardom in WWE has been quick and impressive. The road to the top hasn’t been easy for the young wrestler.
Comparisons to his famous father and uncle, Rick and Scott Steiner, have hounded Bron since his first day of training. Breakker also faced a difficult jump from the rigors of the National Football League to professional wrestling. The process has been no sweat for Bron Breakker.
Bron recently talked to The Sporting News about the similarities between wrestling and football. The NXT champ said he has always wanted to compete in WWE. Breakker said the move was tough, but it was nothing he wasn’t prepared for due to his NFL experience.
“Wrestling is hard and it’s tough. Some things came naturally to me, though. There’s a lot of movements in the sport that both can transition over, like footwork, speed, and explosiveness. There’s a lot of similarities there that transition over to pro wrestling. definitely hit some bumps along the way; I had to earn my stripes, man. I had to hit the ropes and just get to work.”
Bron Breakker was a standout football star in college for the Kennesaw State Owls. He moved on to sign with the Baltimore Ravens in April of 2020. Breakker’s NFL stint was short-lived as he was released by the team just four months later. That is where his wrestling journey began.
WWE has been looking to add young and athletic talent to their roster. Bron fits that mold perfectly. Elite athletes like Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar make the transition from other sports to pro wrestling seem easy. Bron Breakker has the pedigree and experience to continue down that path.
