A Bug Delayed Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla’s Christmas Event Into January

By | January 6, 2022

Being put on the naughty list might lead to Christmas being cancelled, but for video game NPCs and players alike, it seems that a simple bug can at least lead to it being delayed. At least that’s the case for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla‘s Yule-themed update, which is still yet to arrive for some players in the game.

As reported by Eurogamer, the Yuletide celebrations that were supposed to kick off over the holiday period were unfortunately delayed for many players due to a bug in the game. The bug mainly seemed to affect players who had partaken in the festive event the year before, shortly after Valhalla had launched.

Fortunately, however, Ubisoft has now stated that today’s title update patch will fix the issue for all players, who will now be able to resume the festivities in-game until January 27 when the event is set to end.

During Valhalla’s Yule Festival players can collect a range of cosmetics and compete in a number of side activities including drunken brawls, archery challenges, and more. Throughout the period, players should notice a number of changes to the settlement of Ravensthorpe, which currently sports Yuletide decorations and a snowier environment.

While the celebrations in-game are set to continue for a few weeks longer, fans can already look forward to the title’s next expansion. Announced by Ubisoft last month, Valhalla’s next story-based add-on Dawn of Ragnarök will launch on March 10. It takes Eivor further into the realm of Norse mythology and as they take on the role of the God Odin.

“In Dawn of Ragnarok players will experience what [it] feels like to be a God,” Mikhail Lozanov of Ubisoft Sofia said. “To harness the powers of defeated enemies is one of the key new additions to the expansion.” You can check out the announcement trailer for Dawn of Ragnarök below.
