Kansas vs. Miami score, highlights: Live updates on Elite Eight matchup between Jayhawks and Hurricanes

By | March 27, 2022

Miami’s 2022 NCAA Tournament run may be getting overshadowed by No. 15 Saint Peter’s for the time being, but the No. 10 seed tips off Sunday’s action against No. 1 Kansas. The Hurricanes are looking to become just the second 10-seed to make the Final Four; the first to do it was Syracuse in 2016.

Kansas has been played close by its last two opponents Creighton and Providence, but the Jayhawks have come away with wins to make their ninth Elite Eight under Bill Self. Self’s Kansas teams are 3-6 in the Elite Eight, and while playing a No. 10 seed is normally favorable, Miami has looked less than flukey. The Hurricanes have beaten No. 2 Auburn by 18 and No. 11 Iowa State by 14 in their last two games.

The Jayhawks have been led by sixth-man extraordinaire Remy Martin, who has had 20-plus points in each of Kansas’ last two games. Martin has been outstanding for Kansas in fulfilling his role, while Jalen Wilson has also put in strong minutes in Kansas’ deep rotation. Although Kansas doesn’t necessarily have one player who will take over games, Self has put a lot of emphasis on the “win-by-committee” method throughout the tournament.

Miami’s Kameron McGusty and Isaiah Wong have been major contributors for Miami this season, with the Hurricanes running a slightly leaner eight-man rotation. This game will ultimately be a matchup of high-level talent for Miami vs. the depth of Kansas, something that Miami has leveraged in its favor so far in this tournament.
