According to PWInsider, WWE opted to cut the match “due to a number of matches on the show going long.” It is unknown whether the match is still booked for night two of WrestleMania 38.

Both Sheamus and Kofi Kingston took to Twitter to share their reactions to WWE dropping their match. Kofi expressed his disappointment but added that the participants would use it to propel them forward.

To be in the business for an extended duration of time is to experience the highest of highs as well as lowest of lows. Yes, it hurts; but we take it and we use it to propel us forward. #WrestleMania

Sheamus, on the other hand, simply Tweeted a scissors emoji. WWE presumably wanted the bout to be a six-man tag team match between all three members of the New Day and Sheamus, Holland and Butch (fka Pete Dunne), but had to drop it following Big E’s nasty injury.
