PlayStation Plus June 2022 Lineup Includes Naruto, God of War, and a Platform Fighter

Sony is welcoming in new tiers of PlayStation Plus, but that doesn’t mean the monthly batch of games is going away. And as such, Sony revealed the three new games coming to PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers for June 2022: God of WarNaruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. They will be available from June 7 to July 4.

God of War likely needs no introduction, but this 2018 title was a reimagining of the action series that brought it into a new mythology and perspective. It was highly acclaimed for its thought-out characters, take on Norse mythology, and deep melee combat. Many already likely own this title, since it sold well, came out on PC earlier in 2022, is part of the PlayStation Plus Game Collection on PlayStation 5, and will be included in the two higher tiers of PlayStation Plus when it launches more widely in June.

Regardless, the PS4-native title has been updated to run at a 4K and 60 frames per second on PS5. The game’s sequel is still slated to come to PS4 and PS5 sometime this year, so, if that holds true, this is likely a way to get more people on board before that second title.

Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker is the second PS4 game of the lineup. It also released in 2018 to less-than-stellar reviews and has an average score of 64 on OpenCritic, but this four-on-four action game is still getting support to this day. Its fifth season is slated for later this year and will see plenty of balance tweaks and general changes before then, too.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is the final game and will be the sole PS5 title of the month (although the PS4 version is being offered, as well). This Smash Bros.-like platform fighter was derided for its lackluster presentation, but it still has somewhat of a community and is also still getting characters and updates. Cross-play is still coming and the team also hinted that it would be getting voice acting, but Game Mill Entertainment has yet to comment further on those features.

As is almost always the case, the June 2022 PlayStation Plus lineup was leaked beforehand. Spanish website Areajugones had a lineup beforehand, something, as pointed out by Video Games Chronicle, regular PlayStation Plus leaker Deallabs user billbil-kun also hinted at (and later confirmed). They said users should not “buy games for children (or teenagers), or ultra popular games,” which matches the games that were ultimately revealed.
