When Stephen Curry drains ridiculous shots, nobody bats an eye. Even from half court.
Such is the life for the all-time three-point king who calmly splashed a 50-footer at the halftime buzzer in his first return to Boston since the 2022 NBA Finals. On the same floor where he tortured Celtics fans with an iconic Game 4 performance last June, Curry proceeded to then skip around as if he owned the place.

With that make, Curry now has drained six shots from at least 45 feet in his career. Since the NBA officially began tracking shot distances in play-by-play data in 1996-97, no player has made more than Curry. According to Stathead, Curry’s six makes are now tied with Jamal Crawford for the most.
If you watch Warriors games, it’s not uncommon for Curry to let it fly in desperation.

In an age when most players don’t even try to make them or intentionally release after the buzzer for fear of harming their precious 3-point shooting percentages, Curry regularly heaves caution to the wind. Only Andre Miller has attempted more while only two active players have even half as many 45-foot heaves.
Player | Makes | Attempts |
1. Stephen Curry | 6 | 121 |
2. Andre Iguodala | 2 | 71 |
3. Jeff Green | 0 | 62 |
4. Kyle Lowry | 2 | 57 |
5. Kemba Walker | 2 | 54 |
Who doesn’t love watching the greatest shooter of all-time dial it from long distance? Here are Curry’s six makes ranked from most to least impressive. Apologies to the famous shot in Oklahoma City which was “only” a 32-footer (though I’d like a word with whoever decided that).

Ranking Stephen Curry’s half-court shots
1. May 15, 2015, vs. Grizzlies
The only one to come in a playoff game, Curry drained one from 62 feet at the third-quarter buzzer of a tight Game 6. This shot propelled Golden State to the series win and ultimately its first of four championships with Curry.
2. January 19, 2023, vs. Celtics
Prisoner of the moment? Perhaps. But the most recent heave stands out not only due to the make but because of the steal that preceded it. Just an incredible play.
3. January 22, 2016, vs. Pacers
This one is absurd because it came after Curry hit a 70-footer that didn’t count as it was after the first-quarter buzzer. As part of a 39-point triple-double on ESPN, Curry splashed his 200th 3-pointer of the season with a half-court dagger at the end of the first half.
4. March 18, 2019, vs. Spurs
Nationally televised on ESPN, Curry drained a 60-footer at the end of the first quarter. It’s the second-longest make of his career, trailing only the aforementioned shot against Memphis.
5. January 28, 2017, vs. Clippers
Calmly beating one Clipper behind his back before launching a 50-footer adds to the degree of difficulty. The only disappointment here is Mike Breen not going with the patented ‘BANG.’
6. March 9, 2016, vs. Jazz
One of them had to finish last. But a running 54-footer at the halftime buzzer? Not impressed.
Moral of the story? Stephen Curry is unreal.
