Michael Shannon has revealed some details about his return to the role of General Zod in The Flash and how the villain may be a bit different than he was in Man of Steel.
While speaking to Looper, the actor said that he wasn’t shooting for too long, which may suggest the character’s role isn’t enormous in the upcoming superhero movie.
“It was nice to revisit the character,” Shannon stated. “I wasn’t there for a terribly long time. I was in and out in a couple of weeks, so it was a nice way to spend a bit of my summer in England. Andy’s a lovely guy and a great artist, visually, and I had a blast.”
The Man of Steel star also hinted at Zod being different than he was in the 2013 Superman film, which makes sense given this version of Zod exists in a different timeline where Superman isn’t present to stop him.
“I tried to get back into his skin. He’s a little different in this film,” Shannon explained. “You don’t spend as much time with him, so you don’t really get to know as much about what he’s thinking. It’s not necessarily his movie. That’s the thing with these multiverse movies — you get a little bit of this and a little bit of that.”
The Flash movie sees the return of Ezra Miller as the DCEU’s Scarlet Speedster/ Barry Allen. Joining Miller are Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, and Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, along with Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck, who are reprising their respective versions of Bruce Wayne/Batman for the film.
