That has changed this year, but the amount of star power in the national semifinals remains the same.

Virginia Tech made program history this week by defeating Ohio State to advance to its first Final Four. The Hokies’ opppnent Friday, LSU, is also riding high. Angel Reese’s transfer to the Tigers gave them the boost they needed to make it farther than they have since 2008.

In Friday’s second Final Four game, South Carolina is looking to take home the title for a second consecutive year and become the 10th team in NCAA women’s history to complete an undefeated season.

The Gamecocks’ opponent, Iowa, has the best women’s basketball player in the country in Caitlin Clark. She shattered records against Louisville while pushing the Hawkeyes into the second Final Four appearance in program history and their first in 30 years.

7:18 p.m.: The offensive rebounds have been plentiful in the first quarter, though so have the turnovers. LSU has managed to score eight points on Virginia Tech’s four turnovers in six minutes.

7:11 p.m.: LSU wins the tipoff and knocks in a two right off the bat. An LSU cheerleader had to be boosted to get the ball unstuck from the top of the net on Virginia Tech’s failed shot attempt in the first 33 seconds of the game. “We got a wedgie!”
