Is Chris Paul playing tonight? Suns vs. Nuggets time, TV channel, live stream for Game 4 of NBA Playoffs

By | May 7, 2023

The Suns unraveled down the stretch in Game 2 against the Nuggets, struggling offensively while Nikola Jokic took complete control for Denver. An injury to Chris Paul might have been one reason Phoenix couldn’t keep up.

Paul exited with a groin injury that kept him out for Game 3 and left a thin Suns team with one fewer option as Monty Williams’ squad tries to battle back from a series deficit.

Phoenix was able to manage a win without Paul, avoiding a 3-0 series deficit, but it might be an uphill battle in Game 4 if Devin Booker and Kevin Durant can’t take over like they did on Friday.

Postseason injuries are nothing new for Paul, who was able to overcome a shoulder injury during the 2021 playoffs and help lead the Suns to the NBA Finals. He’s no longer as crucial as a scorer with Durant in the fold alongside Booker, but his ability as a distributor and on-court leader is still hugely important for the Suns if they want to make a title run.

Here’s what we know about Paul’s status entering Sunday night’s Game 4 against the Nuggets, plus all the information you need to watch the game.

Is Chris Paul playing vs. Nuggets tonight?

The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that Paul would be re-evaluated one week after his MRI on Tuesday, so he’s not expected to be available for Game 4 on Sunday.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday that Paul was in doubt for Game 4, which fits the timeline. He didn’t participate in practice before missing Game 3.

Cameron Payne will continue to have a major role in Phoenix’s backcourt as the Suns look to get right back into this series on Sunday.

That timeline indicates Paul could miss Game 5 as well, putting the Suns’ chances in serious jeopardy after they dropped the first two games on the road.
