The 2023 Women’s College World Series has arrived.
Eight teams have survived the gauntlet of the regular season. No. 1 Oklahoma certainly looks to be the team to beat after winning two straight titles and going a sterling 56-1 heading into Oklahoma City riding a record 48-game winning streak.
Going for the three-peat won’t be easy. Seven of the eight teams in Oklahoma City are ranked inside the top 10, with No. 15 Utah the exception after heating up late in the season and winning the Pac-12 tournament.
Oklahoma is the only program in the field with multiple Women’s College World Series wins. With six already, a seventh title would move the Sooners to within one of the second-most, Arizona at eight, and to within five of UCLA’s record 12. A team has not won three straight titles since UCLA won in 1988-90.
