Victor Wembanyama Rookie of the Year Odds: FanDuel boosts odds for No. 1 pick to win ROY

By | June 22, 2023

Before Victor Wembanyama walks across the stage at Barclays Center donning a Spurs hat, bettors at FanDuel Sportsbook can take advantage of an odds boost for the 7-3 French phenom to win the 2023-24 Rookie of the Year award.

Under FanDuel’s “Boosts” tab, bettors will see special odds they can use to bet on a successful rookie campaign from one of the league’s most-hyped draft prospects of all time.

Relative to other legalized U.S. sportsbooks, FanDuel’s 2023-24 NBA Rookie of the Year odds market isn’t as heavily shaded toward Wembanyama as you might expect. Wemby currently sits with just -160 odds to win the award, while other sportsbooks list him in the -200 range or longer.

Despite FanDuel already offering competitive odds in this market, their boost makes laying a future bet down on him significantly more intriguing. Let’s take a look at FanDuel’s current 2023-24 Rookie of the Year odds and explain why this odds boost warrants your attention.

It’s rare to see a player already priced with negative odds to win Rookie of the Year honors before Summer League commences, but Wembanyama’s long been expected to take the league by storm from the moment he steps foot on an NBA court.

As we mentioned, most sportsbooks have him priced north of a two-dollar favorite (-200 odds) in the Rookie of the Year odds market, but FanDuel lists the 7-3 unicorn at -160. Those odds imply he has a 61.54-percent chance of winning the award, and while you might think that price is fairly steep, it’s the most competitive price in the legal market for NBA futures bettors.

Laying -160 compared to -200 on the same futures bet yields bettors an extra 13 cents on every dollar wagered. That adds up in the long run and is one of the many reasons bettors need to have accounts at various books in order to shop for the best odds.

Victor Wembanyama’s Rookie of the Year Odds Boost

FanDuel Sportsbook

FanDuel’s boosting Wembanyama’s Rookie of the Year odds from -160 to +120, giving users a chance to bet him to win the award at implied odds of 45.45 percent. Again, FanDuel’s un-boosted odds pit him with a 61.54-percent chance to do so, making this boost a no-brainer.

FanDuel’s letting users wager up to $50 to potentially net $60 on Wembanyama to win Rookie of the Year at +120. Despite the $50 limit, it’s undoubtedly a worthwhile wager. A $50 wager on Wembanyama at his un-boosted odds of -160 would net $31.25, so bettors could pocket an extra $28.75 if he wins Rookie of the Year.

Bettors have until noon Eastern on Friday to bet Wembanyama at these favorable odds, so get your bet in before it’s too late!
