The 2023 USFL championship game features the defending league champion and a team that finished the regular season below .500.
The Birmingham Stallions are playing the Pittsburgh Maulers at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, with the Maulers looking to pull off a huge upset after beating the Michigan Panthers to win the North Division the week before.
The Stallions are coming off a rout of the New Orleans Breakers in the South Division title game. They have put together another strong season behind quarterback Alex McGough, who led the USFL with 20 touchdown passes, and tight end Jace Sternberger, who led with seven receiving TDs.

The Maulers have made their bones this season in other areas. Joshua Simmons led the USFL in kick return yards, Isiah Hennie led in punt return yards, and Mark Gilbert led with four interceptions.
Can the Maulers leverage their special teams and defense into the upset? Or will Birmingham roll to a repeat after beating the Philadelphia Stars in Canton last year?
