The Red Sox have had an interesting history when it comes to their recent top draft picks.
Triston Casas, who was drafted No. 26 overall in 2018, made his debut for the Red Sox in 2022 and hit five home runs in 27 games. He is now the regular first baseman in Boston.

Tanner Houck was drafted No. 24 overall in 2017 and made his debut in 2020 for Boston. The right-hander is recovering from a facial fracture and has been cleared to start pitching again.
Andrew Benintendi was promoted from Double-A to the majors a little over a year after he was selected seventh overall in 2015. The outfielder was part of Boston’s 2018 World Series-winning team, but he has subsequently moved to the Royals, Yankees and now White Sox. He was named an All-Star in 2022.

Boston’s 2016 first-rounder, Jay Groome, has yet to make the majors, and the team’s last three first-rounders — high school infielders Nick Yorke, Marcelo Mayer and Mikey Romero — are still working their way through the system.
