Scoring a century on Test debut is a remarkable accomplishment for any cricketer. Over the years, India has witnessed several remarkable performances by players who made an instant impact by registering centuries on their Test debut.
The latest to join that list is young Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has scored a century on his India debut in the ongoing first Test against West Indies at Windsor Park in Dominica.

The youngster has translated his impressive domestic and IPL form to the international level and looks set to be a mainstay in the Indian cricket team for a long time. He scored 171 before being dismissed, becoming only the third Indian batsman to score 150 on Test debut, after Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma.

It was back in 1933, that Lala Amarnath wrote his name in the history books as the first Indian player to score a century on Test debut. His innings of 118 laid the foundation for a historic victory for India.
Since then several great batsmen reached triple-figures on their test debut including modern-day greats Sourav Ganguly, Shikhar Dhawan, and current skipper Rohit Sharma.

In fact, Sharma’s debut century also came against West Indies back in 2013. He scored a magnificent 177 at the Eden Gardens, coming into bat no. 6, which led India to a resounding victory by an innings and 51 runs.
