Bills vs. Jets live score, updates, highlights from NFL ‘Monday Night Football’ game

By | September 11, 2023

Broadway got that much glitzier with Aaron Rodgers’ arrival.

The Jets’ newly minted hurler tends to bask whenever spotlight is involved. And the lights don’t get bigger than in the Big Apple, where icons have their names etched into the city’s skyline in the blink of an eye.

Rodgers is a supernova. His name lights up marquees across the country. As such, his impending contribution is expected to take Gang Green to new heights.

He’ll have quite the opening test in the Bills. The darlings of the division, Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs and Co. have run roughshod over the vast majority of AFC teams over the years. They haven’t faced a foe like Rodgers, though; a wily veteran with just the right amount of flair to match.

Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson represent some of the conference’s best talents. But facing off against that caliber of passer twice a year? Well, that’s an entirely new proposition. Even for a side teeming with as much talent as Buffalo.

Bills vs. Jets results, highlights from Monday Night Football

(All times Eastern)

8:27 p.m.: The Jets drive ends without a whimper. However, all eyes will be pointed towards the blue injury tent where Rodgers lies.

8:25 p.m.: Rodgers goes down and he’s wincing in pain! Zach Wilson going onto the field now! What a disappointment for Jets fans.

8:23 p.m.: Breece Hall finds a hole down the left and struts down sideline for 26 yards! Huge play to start the season for Gang Green!

8:22 p.m.: Allen’s throw to Diggs strays wide on third down. Ball headed to Rodgers and Co.

8:20 p.m.: Josh Allen’s first pass of the season: right into the arms of Stefon Diggs for a seven-yard gain. Little surprise there.

8:18 p.m.: New York boots the ball into the end zone! Football is back in the Big Apple!

8:14 p.m.: The Rodgers-Garrett Wilson connection will be one to watch tonight. Kick off is on the horizon.

8:00 p.m.: Jake Paul and Aaron Rodgers: the duo we didn’t ask for at all!

7:25 p.m.: And here are the cadre of inactive souls on the Bills side, spotlighted by Damar Hamlin. H/t to ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg for the report.

7:10 p.m.: Here are the Jets inactives from the day, courtesy of The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt. Not too many big names, although Carl Lawson did play a pivotal role in that Green Rush front seven last year.

6:46 p.m.: Look, mom! It’s a double rainbow!

6:20 p.m.: More warnings coming out of the Big Apple, per Schefty. Although the game doesn’t look under threat, tailgates galore have likely been washed away due to the inclement weather. An unfortunate situation for those who turned out en masse to MetLife Stadium.

6:00 p.m.: Most forecasts have the weather settling down way before tonight’s game. Could be some slick conditions to start. But by in large, should be a fairly dry affair.

5:50 p.m.:  Lots of eyes on Bills and Jets, and rightfully so. However, there could a spanner in the works if today’s broadcast is to be believed. Looks like a serious chance for heavy rain at MetLife Stadium. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who is currently on the scene, stadium officials have formally called for a shelter-in-place decree. No players or team personnel will be allowed to traverse onto the field unless the order is lifted.
