Who will be the CFL’s 110th Grey Cup champion? That answer will be decided Sunday night in Hamilton.
The 2023 CFL season comes to its conclusion tonight at Tim Hortons Field, as the Montreal Alouettes and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers go head-to-head in the CFL’s championship game.
Winnipeg won the West Division for the fourth straight season after a 14-4 regular season. After securing a bye, the Blue Bombers punched their ticket to the Grey Cup thanks to a West Final win over the BC Lions. Led by QB Zach Collaros, Winnipeg is aiming for redemption after losing to the Toronto Argonauts last year in the 109th Grey Cup, ruining the club’s shot at a three-peat.
On the other side, the Alouettes went 11-7 in the regular season, finishing second in the East Division. In the playoffs, Montreal knocked off the Hamilton Tiger-Cats before dismantling the defending champion Argos in the East Final.
If Montreal fans are feeling like it’s been awhile since they have watched the Alouettes in a championship game, it’s because it has been. Montreal’s last title appearance came in 2010, when the Alouettes defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders for the team’s seventh championship. With QB Cody Fajardo at the helm, the Alouettes have a shot at their first title in 13 years.

5:10 p.m.: The QB battle today is between Winnipeg’s Zach Collaros and Montreal’s Cody Fajardo. Collaros led the league in passing TDs (33) and was second in passing yards (4,252), while Fajardo ranked first among the starting QBs in completion percentage (71.4%).
5 p.m.: Winnipeg and Montreal are two of the oldest CFL franchises still active, but how about this for a fun fact — the two clubs have never played against one another in a Grey Cup. The Blue Bombers have a league-high 27 Grey Cup appearances and the Alouettes have 18, but the 2023 title game marks the first time these two sides go head-to-head in a CFL title game.
4:50 p.m.: The Alouettes are making their first Grey Cup appearance since 2010. That’s also the last time Montreal has won a CFL title, defeating the Saskatchewan Roughriders for their seventh championship in club history.
4:45 p.m.: The Blue Bombers have dominated the West Division. This marks the fourth consecutive season that Winnipeg has emerged of the West, looking for the organization’s 13th CFL title. Their last championship came in 2021 when the Blue Bombers took down the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
