David Hayter Teases Metal Gear Fans Once Again, This Time for Metal Gear Solid 4

By | November 20, 2023

Original Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter has set tongues wagging within the Metal Gear community once again after he teased involvement in something Metal Gear Solid 4-related.

“Had a pretty cool meeting the other day…” Hayter post on X/Twitter, below, next to a model of Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4.

Hayter riled up the Metal Gear fanbase last month after teasing “this is only the beginning” for the franchise while promoting his upcoming retrospective video series highlighting iconic moments from the games.

The brief teaser simultaneously advertised the newly released Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 while also promoting Konami’s upcoming retrospective video series, in which Hayter will guide viewers through iconic moments from the long-running franchise.

Now Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is out, thoughts turn to Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, which IGN sources indicate is in the works and includes Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid 5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

While the entire collection will no doubt excite Metal Gear fans, it’s the inclusion of Metal Gear Solid 4 that’s of most interest. Kojima Productions’ 2008 action-adventure stealth video game has been shackled to the PlayStation 3 since launch, and with Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. expected to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch, an army of newcomers are set to experience Guns of the Patriots for the first time.

Every IGN Metal Gear Review

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker launched first in 2010 as the fifth installment of the Metal Gear Solid series made specifically for the PlayStation Portable. It later launched on the PS3 and Xbox 360 as part of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.

Metal Gear Solid 5 launched in 2015 as Hideo Kojima’s final work at Konami. Kojima made the controversial decision to recast Snake for the game, opting instead to have 24 star Kiefer Sutherland voice the iconic mercenary, much to the chagrin of long time fans. Those same individuals are among the many gamers overjoyed to see Hayter return to take a more active role in the series that he played an instrumental role in bringing to life.

Is Hayter laying down new voice work for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2? Time will tell.
