Popular K-drama Strong Girl Nam-soon aired its final episode (episode 16) on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 10:30 p.m. KST on JTBC and Netflix. The series follows the story of three generations of powerful women investigating drug-related crimes in Gangnam. Starring Lee Yoo-Mi and Ong Seung-Wu, the drama is a spin-off of the hit 2017 Strong Woman Do-Bong Soon series. The franchise has been extremely popular among avid fans.

Episode 16 of Strong Girl Namsoon ended with an unexpected twist. The identity of Nozh, the owner of Pavel, had been a secret for the longest time. It was eventually revealed to be Bread Song (Kim Ki-Bum), who was initially known to be a money launderer. The show ended with a teaser for Season 2. Nozh is targeting Hwang Geum-Joo’s (Kim Jung-Eun) empire Gold Blue. To help take on Nozh, Geum-Joo asks for Jang Chung-Dong, potentially the male lead for the next season.

Due to an anomaly in his Y chromosome, Jang Chung-Dong was born with supernatural powers. As a result, the focus of the next season could shift towards a male lead. Stay tuned for more updates.

Strong Girl Nam-soon Episode 16: Is the series returning for Season 2 with Jang Chung-Dong?

The ending scene of Strong Girl Nam-soon was a prologue for a potential Season 2 and a third for the entire franchise. Hwang Geum-Joo realizes that the man she’s been meeting throughout the investigation into Doogo and Pavel is, in fact, the mafia boss who owns the drug cartel. She was shocked to learn that Nozh was none other than Bread Song.

In Episode 16, Gang Nam-Soon (Lee Yoo-Mi) survives Ryu Si-Oh’s (Byeon Woo-Seok) attack. She attacks him back with a rod, with Gang Hee-Sik (Ong Seung-Wu) arriving just in time to save her. Ryu Si-Oh flees from the scene and returns to the boxing ring where Pavel had brought him to get trained. Meanwhile, Hee-Sik finds the antidote for the drug, saving Nam-Soon’s life, while other women in the family also recover.

Eventually, the investigative team is able to track Ryu Si-Oh. Meanwhile, Ryu Si-Oh meets his fellow trainee friend. The duo trained at Pavel together and had grown closer over time before they separated. However, Ryu Si-Oh discovers that who he thought was his friend was the one hired by Pavel to kill him. Si-Oh asks his friend to let him die with dignity. As the team arrives to capture him, he points the gun to his head, shooting himself.

From then on, everyone at Doogo involved in drug distribution goes to prison, and the investigative team gets access to all of the antidotes. Everyone celebrates while Hwang Geum-Joo discovers that Bread Song has disappeared, leaving her a note that says, “Be like the merciful Paul.” This hinted at Bread Song’s devotion to Saint Paulus.

Other events subsequently fall into place. Gil Joong-Gan (Kim Hae-Sook) confirms her relationship with Jun-Hee, separating amicably from her husband. She now fights against senior citizen abuse and scamming. Meanwhile, Nam-Soon and Hee-Sik’s families meet to finalize the couple’s wedding date. Nam-Soon also gets a special appointment in the police force.

The investigative team discovers that the Doggo Stationery, which had the antidotes, has a rather unexpected owner. Ryu Si-Oh tracked down his birth father, opening up a store for his father to sustain. Nam-Soon and Hee-Sik accept that if Si-Oh had not entered Pavel, he would’ve led a more peaceful and honest life with his parents.

By the end of the episode, Hwang Geum-Joo receives information about Nozh’s identity. She gets a picture of Bread Song, which shocks her. Hee-Sik had previously informed her that Nozh was targeting her this time around. Ryu Si-Oh’s phone was still in use, potentially by Bread Song himself.

To help her tackle Nozh, Geum-Joo goes to Jang Chung-Don pig trotter shop to meet Yun-Hwi. The ending introduces the plot and characters for another season, one being Yun-Hwi. Geum-Joo wants to give Yun-Hwi’s son Jang Chung-Dong a mission. Eventually, Chung-Dong is in a game room when he smashes the screen as Yun-Hwi screams his name.

Jang Chung-Dong will take on the strong male lead in the next season of Strong Girl Nam-soon. Stay tuned to find out more details about the same. Meanwhile, viewers can stream all episodes of the series on Netflix.
