Where to watch Liverpool vs Man United: Live stream, TV channel, lineups for Premier League match

By | December 16, 2023

Liverpool, top of the Premier League table and into the Europa League knockout stages, host bitter rivals Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday with the visitors significantly down on their luck.

United were dumped out of Europe just days ago, beaten 1-0 by Bayern Munich to finish last in their Champions League group. Manager Erik ten Hag is facing increasing pressure, and their sixth-place Premier League standing will have to change for him to remain in charge long-term.

The silver lining of less fixture congestion with no European football may give United a boost as the season progresses and they look to improve their Premier League standing to salvage an otherwise tumultuous season.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are in a great position, gaining momentum as they sit top of the league standings with the festive fixtures drawing closer. Yet it’s still very tight at the top, with just a single point advantage over second-place Arsenal, while third-place Aston Villa sit two points behind and fourth-place Manchester City lurk four points back.

Liverpool vs Man United lineups & team news

Liverpool’s hefty injury list seems to be showing signs of easing soon, but there are still a number of players who could miss this match. ThiagoStefan Bajcetic, and Alexis Mac Allister are all thought likely to return soon, but this game will come too soon for them to take the field.

The likes of Diogo JotaAndrew Robertson, and Joel Matip will all take longer to varying degrees, with Robertson not likely to return until February, and Matip out for the year with a torn ACL.

Liverpool projected starting lineup (4-3-3): Alisson (GK) — Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Tsimikas — Szoboszlai, Endo, Gravenberch — Salah, Nunez, L. Diaz.

Both Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw were injured against Bayern Munich, compounding the woes of United’s Champions League exit. Those two defenders are added to the growing United injury list, with the fitness of Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen in question alongside long-term injuries to CasemiroLisandro Martinez, and Tyrell Malacia.

The newest absences could see Raphael Varane shown a way back into the team, after performing well in his 80 minutes midweek. Diogo Dalot could be forced over onto the left to cover for Shaw, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka gets another run in the side.

Adding to the concerns, Bruno Fernandes will miss the match as he is suspended for yellow card accumulation. Marcus RashfordAnthony Martial, and Victor Lindelof all missed the midweek game with an illness and their status for the weekend is unknown.

Man United projected starting lineup (4-3-3): Onana (GK) — Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Lindelof, Dalot — McTominay, Amrabat, Mainoo — Antony, Hojlund, Garnacho.
