Persona 5 Series Passes 10 Million Units Sold After Tactica Launch

By | December 18, 2023

The Persona 5 subseries has sold more than 10 million units following the launch of Persona 5 Tactica in November 2023.

Publisher Atlus revealed the milestone on X/Twitter alongside a celebratory illustration from series artist Shigenori Soejima featuring Persona 5 protagonist Joker and his cat companion Morgana.

“The worldwide sales of the Persona 5 series have surpassed 10 million units,” Atlus said. “To celebrate, check out this special thank-you illustration from Shigenori Soejima. Thank you so much to our players for your continued support.”

The Persona 5 series specifically references the fifth main entry and its spin-offs, so Atlus isn’t including the likes of Persona 3 or Persona 4 Golden in this sales total. Four spin-offs have been released alongside Persona 5, including rhythm game Dancing in the Starlight, an expanded version of the base game called Royal, the Dynasty Warriors-style action game Stikers, and the tactical role-playing game Tactica.

Though Atlus hasn’t released specific stats for Tactica, it was likely its launch in November that pushed the series beyond the 10 million mark. This one earned an 8/10 in IGN’s review. “Persona 5 Tactica is a big bag of bite-sized Phantom Thieves adventures that keeps the spirit of the series alive and shows that it can work great with a grid-based battle system,” we said.

Looking to continue the momentum, Atlus is releasing a remake of the third game called Persona 3: Reload on February 2, 2024. As a from the ground up remake, Persona 3 Reload features a brand new voice cast, updated graphics, and more.

The game was finally announced at the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase following a string of rumours and one final leak ahead of the event. It will specifically recreate Persona 3, not Persona 3 FES or Persona 3 Portable, meaning there won’t be a female protagonist or any of the other additional content those versions brought.
