It is a measure of Novak Djokovic’s brilliance and longevity that the seven-time Wimbledon champion remains by far the highest earner in tennis history, a status he only looks set to further cement as he returns to SW19.

Djokovic’s much-publicised visa fiasco eventually ruled him out of the 2022 Australian Open and he missed the US Open at the end of last year on account of vaccination status not meeting coronavirus entry requirements for the country.

However, the 36-year-old has left no doubt over his enduring pre-eminence by storming to victory in the first two Grand Slams of 2023, ensuring he is in prime form for the defence of his Wimbledon crown and the pursuit of a record-extending 24th major title.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Djokovic is worth an estimated $240 million (£189.3m).

The outlet says that Djokovic earns the vast majority of his endorsement income from brands including clothing line Lacoste. Between June 2019 and June 2020 he raked in $45m (£35.5m) in commercial earnings.

Djokovic used a paid social media post in 2021 to announce that he had entered a partnership with luxury watchmakers Hublot.

To date, as per the ATP, Djokovic has made almost $170m (£134m) in career earnings, making him the highest earner the sport has ever seen.

Djokovic has already raked in more than $5m (£3.9m) in prize money earnings in 2023.

In 2022, Reuters reported that Djokovic bought an 80% controlling stake in QuantBioRes, a Danish biotech firm that has been working on a cure for Covid without vaccination, in 2020.

Djokovic also invests in his eponymous foundation, which develops early childhood education projects in Serbia.

The seven-time Wimbledon winner has scaled 9.2 million Twitter followers and in excess of 10 million on Facebook.

In comparison, Nadal’s 18.9 million followers on Instagram make him the most followed tennis player on the planet, while Roger Federer, whose record eight Wimbledon singles titles is a mark in Djokovic’s sights this year, has 11.6 million.
