The NHL’s biggest and brightest stars are set to shine tonight in the hockey hub of Toronto, as the 2024 NHL All-Star Game is here.
The annual event features more than 40 of the best skaters and goaltenders in the world partaking in three-on-three action for bragging rights among their colleagues.
There are four teams of 11 competing on Saturday — Team MacKinnon, Team Matthews, Team Hughes and Team McDavid. The four squads will square off in three-on-three games in a winner-take-all format, as the victors of the first two matchups will play in a final.
The games consist of two 10-minute halves. If the game is tied after 20 minutes, it will go directly to a three-round shootout with extra rounds as necessary to determine a winner.
This year, the league elected to alter the format of the rosters, going away from the traditional method of splitting up by divisions, and instead, utilizing a player draft. The four captains got to choose their teammates on Thursday night, so there is no excuse for these crews not to be confident heading into the final day of All-Star festivities.
