With the 2024 Olympics less than six months away, runners who are expected to contend for medals on the track in Paris are tuning up with a series of indoor competitions.
This weekend, the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston will bring together a collection of Olympic and world champions ahead of next weekend’s 116th Millrose Games in New York.
The highlight of Sunday’s races is the 60-meter showdown between Americans Noah Lyles and Fred Kerley, the last two 100-meter gold medalists at the World Championships. Lyles, who blazed to the 100 and 200 titles at Worlds in 2023, is the defending champion after running a 6.51-second 60 last year. Kerley has never run a 60 in competition.
Three-time 110m hurdles world champion Grant Holloway also will be in action, running the 60m hurdles.
Gabby Thomas, a silver medalist in the 200 last year at Worlds and bronze medalist in that event at the Tokyo Olympics, will run the 300 meters in Boston. Tara Davis-Woodhall also took silver at Worlds in 2023 and will headline the long jump field in Boston. Gudaf Tsegay of Ethiopia, who has won gold at the World Championships in the 1,500 (indoors), 5,000 (outdoors) and 10,000 (outdoors) within the last two years, will be favored to win the final event of the day, the women’s 1,500.
Here’s the full meet schedule and how to watch all the action live.
