Following a very unique buildup, the moment approaches for WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney and challenger Ryan Garcia to throw down at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on April 20. The 12-round bout, plus undercard action, will be broadcast via DAZN PPV.

Insults have been hurled back and forth on social media for weeks, prompting Haney to tell DAZN that his opponent “has crossed the line” in terms of his pre-fight theatrics. Meanwhile, Garcia has labelled his opponent “the devil” and promises an early knockout.

3:24 p.m. ET: Both fighters tell each other they’re scared to meet at ring center. There’s now an official bet that Garcia will pay Haney $500,000 for every pound he comes in overweight. The limit is 140 pounds.

3:22 p.m. ET: Haney takes the stage. “This is a fight that I will make easy. I’ve stayed focused. I have tunnel vision. All of his antics will betray him.”

3:20 p.m. ET: Ryan Garcia takes the stage and thanks Jesus countless times. “What do you guys want me to say? I’ve already done everything. I’m ready to kick ass. I’m ready to f__k this guy up!”

3:16 p.m. ET: Bill Haney closes by saying “What Devin is going to do him shouldn’t be on TV. Come Saturday night that boy is going to pay.”

3:13 p.m. ET: Bill Haney’s turn to take the stage. After praising everyone connected with the promotion, Haney hands Garcia a book entitled Psychology For Dummies. Garcia immediately throws it off the stage to which Bill Haney responds, “That’s what George Kambosos did! You saw what happened to him.”

3:11 p.m. ET: Former Trainer of the Year Derrick James takes the dias. “This fight is all about execution. Now it’s time for Ryan to go out and execute.”

3:09 p.m. ET: Bernard Hopkins takes the dias and offers the shortest sound bite he’s ever given. “We have a fight!”

3:07 p.m. ET: Oscar De La Hoya is now up on the stage. The former six-weight world champ gifts Garcia and Haney with custom-made leather jackets commemorating the upcoming fight.

3:04: p.m. ET: Eddie Hearn, who is representing Haney, takes the dias and is immediately booed theatrically by Garcia. Hearn takes it well and proceeds with his speech, “As the fight draws closer we start to realise what we have in front of us. Too young superstars!”

Hearn gives Haney his flowers: “You are a class act!”

2:59 p.m. ET: Haney, dressed all in black and wearing shades, enters with promoter Eddie Hearn. Trainer/ father Bill Haney carrying Mexican and American flags.

2:53 p.m. ET: All smiles, Garcia enters the press conference, shakes hands with promoter Oscar De La Hoya, and takes his position on the stage.
