Josh Allen looks like the NFL MVP through two weeks

By | September 16, 2024

The Buffalo Bills have already shut up a lot of doubters in 2024. After their doom was prophesied by many, Buffalo has won its first two games. They defeated the Arizona Cardinals in comeback fashion off the strength of four Josh Allen touchdowns. Then in Week 2, they humiliated the Miami Dolphins 31-10. And while there is still a long way to go in the season, Allen already looks like an MVP candidate.

The star quarterback currently has five total touchdowns and zero interceptions. He is one of just three quarterbacks to have at least three touchdown passes with no picks – Kyler Murray and C.J. Stroud are the other two.

On top of that, Allen is second in EPA per play. adjusted EPA per play, and EPA + CPOE composite while leading the NFL in success rate.

He’s being smarter with the ball while still giving the Bills an abundance of big plays. And while the defending MVP sits at 0-2 after losing to Gardner Minshew for the second straight year, it looks as if this could be Allen’s year to finally be crowned as league MVP. Of course, unless the Ravens win the AFC North and Lamar Jackson has 18 touchdowns, to which we have seen is the ultimate criteria for winning the MVP award.

Jokes aside, Allen has been great, and hopefully he gets recognized for his talent with an MVP, and a Super Bowl, as well.
