JK Dobbins injury update: Chargers RB exits game vs. Ravens with knee issue

By | November 25, 2024

The Chargers and Ravens’ “Monday Night Football” duel was significant for a number of reasons, offering Jim and John Harbaugh another chance to rekindle their brotherly rivalry and OC Greg Roman a chance to outsmart his former proteges.

The matchup also proved meaningful for Los Angeles running back JK Dobbins, who, much like Roman, was facing off against his former employers.

Dobbins enjoyed a strong start to proceedings, collecting 40 yards on six carries while reeling in three darts from Justin Herbert in the first half alone. His showcase hit a bit of turbulence towards the end of the second quarter, however. The reason why? A pesky knee injury.

Here’s what you need to know.

JK Dobbins injury update

Dobbins disappeared into the locker room before the end of the second quarter. felled by knee trouble.

Dobbins appeared to hurt his knee after getting caught in a Malik Harrison tackle with 5:09 left in the half. He looked to be gesturing toward his left knee after the play.

The Chargers soon ruled Dobbins questionable to return.

However, he was eventually downgraded to out at the start of the fourth quarter.

Dobbins has suffered his fair share of knee injuries since making his NFL debut in 2020. The 25-year-old RB missed the whole of the 2021 season — and parts of 2022 — with a torn ACL. He underwent additional surgery to relieve him of knee tightness later in 2022, missing nine games in total.

Dobbins entered Monday night’s game with 726 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns across 10 appearances with the Chargers.

Chargers RB depth chart

Rank Name
1 Gus Edwards
2 Jarret Patterson

With Dobbins away, expect another former Baltimore tailback — Gus Edwards – to receive the vast majority of the carries going forward.

Edwards, 29, entered Monday’s contest with 195 yards on 54 carries in 2024. He’s yet to find the end zone this season.
