After months and months of rumors and speculation, the 2025 NFL draft is finally upon us and we’ll have concrete answers for what the Pittsburgh Steelers and the rest of the NFL will do in this year’s event.

The Steelers have a grand total of six picks in this year’s draft, with one in each round but the second. That pick went to the Seattle Seahawks in the blockbuster trade for wide receiver DK Metcalf.

Speaking of that trade, that’s where the Steelers’ sixth-round pick comes from. The seventh-rounder Pittsburgh sports also came via trade, when the Steelers sent quarterback Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles.

What time will Steelers make first-round pick?

We know the draft will start at 8 p.m. ET, but when exactly will the Steelers make their first pick on Thursday night? Well, we can get a good idea by looking at the time the No. 21 overall pick from last year’s draft was announced.

According to Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, last year’s No. 21 overall pick, which was made by the Denver Broncos, was announced at 10:38 p.m. ET, so we can look for it to come in around that time in 2025.

Of course, that could change and the Steelers could end up picking earlier or later depending on if they trade up or down from the No. 21 spot. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Steelers are one of the teams trying to trade down.

“The Steelers (No. 21) are among the teams interested in moving back from their first-round slot,” Schefter reported.

For those Steelers fans hoping to see the pick come in as early as possible thanks to work the next morning, the team has not traded back in the first round of a draft since all the way back in 2001, so doing so would be an outlier.

However, never say never in a year where reports suggest there are more teams trying to trade down than up.
