By | May 26, 2025

The Indiana Fever will have to play a handful of games without their leader.

Caitlin Clark has a left quad strain, the team announced on Monday afternoon.

It’ll be the first extended absence of Clark’s WNBA career, and the league and her team will both feel the temporary repercussions.

How long will Caitlin Clark be out?

Caitlin Clark has been ruled out for a minimum of two weeks, according to the Fever.

“Further updates will be provided, as available, following re-evaluation,” the Fever said in a statement.

What is Caitlin Clark’s injury?

Caitlin Clark has a strain of the left quadriceps.

When did Caitlin Clark get injured?

Caitlin Clark first injured her left quad in the preseason. It forced her to miss just one preseason game.

At the time, Clark explained it like this:

“Probably just a little too much basketball. I love being in the gym, but I think understanding when to be in the gym and when to recover, things like that, I think it’s just finding a balance and obviously getting back in the swing of things. It was nothing major or anything like that.”

Who is the Fever’s backup point guard?

The Indiana Fever will likely slide 2-guard Kelsey Mitchell over to the point guard spot.

The Fever still have six starter-level players even with Clark out. They’ll start four more out of the five group of Lexie Hull, Sophie Cunningham, Dewanna Bonner, Natasha Howard and Aliyah Boston.

Mitchell will likely get all the minutes she can handle in the meantime.

What games will Caitlin Clark miss?

The two-week timeline has Clark missing four games:

The Fever play the Mystics on May 28, the Sun on May 30, the Mystics again on June 3 and then the Sky on June 7.

The WNBA would certainly like to see Clark back for that Saturday, June 7 showdown in Chicago against Angel Reese, but this timeline suggests she won’t be.

Just beyond the two-week timeline is a June 10 game at the Atlanta Dream.
