California’s 2024-25 high school sports year is officially a wrap.
Softball and baseball closed the season out on Saturday with 10 CIF regional championships apiece – five in NorCal and five in SoCal.
In Division I of the SoCal softball finals, Mater Dei Catholic followed up its San Diego Section championship with a regional title, beating top-seeded El Modena in the finals.
Here’s a quick look at the results of each of Saturday’s five Southern California regional softball title games.

Mater Dei Catholic finishes 2025 on top of not only the San Diego Section but all of Southern California, storming past shorthanded El Modena in the middle innings to win 12-3.
El Modena took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first innings on a two-run blast from Monica Garcia, and it led 3-1 after four innings. After that, it was all Crusaders. Mater Dei Catholic dinged ElMo up for six runs in the top of the fifth and tacked on five more in the seventh.
Analesse “Peanut” Garcia went 2-4 with a homer, a double and four RBI for the Crusaders, and Maya Matthies went 2-3 with a home run. Charlize Masingale, Bella Hiner, Bella Harris and Arri Romero all had multi-hit games as well.
El Modena, which was also the runner-up in CIF-SS Division 1, was without ace pitcher Sara Pinedo and fellow starters Kylie Tafua, Jillian Alvarado and Sofia Ramos.

DIVISION II: Eastlake 2, El Cajon Christian 1
Starting pitcher Addison Suriano was once again phenomenal as the Titans edged out another San Diego Section foe, Christian (El Cajon), in 12 innings for a regional title.
The win avenged a 7-2 loss to Christian from the regular season in which Suriano was lit up for five earned runs (seven total) in six innings. This time, Suriano went 12 innings and gave up just one score.
Deziree Gomez led Eastlake on offense with three hits, one RBI and one run scored.
DIVISION III: Point Loma 4, Legacy 1

Freshman two-way star Ella Poulin had another standout performance for Point Loma as San Diego Section teams swept the top three divisions. Poulin held Legacy to five hits and one earned run with eight strikeouts in a complete game performance and hit 1-2 with a triple and a walk.
Fellow freshman Siena Balistreri hit a two-run double and came around to score for the CIF-SDS D2 champion.
Katelen Pedroza went 2-3 with an RBI for Legacy.
DIVISION IV: Woodlake 4, Pioneer Valley 3

This one was Central Section-on-Central Section, and the Tigers of Woodlake came on top by one run.
Cienna Acosta was strong in the circle for Pioneer Valley, holding foes to four hits and two earned runs while fanning 10 in 6.1 innings, but the Panthers couldn’t overcome three errors for two unearned runs.
Woodlake finishes 30-1 with a CIF-Central Section Division IV title to go with its first regional crown.
DIVISION V: Orcutt Academy 6, Rancho Mirage 1

The Spartans rallied late to win comfortably in a game that was uncomfortably close until the end. They scored the game’s opening run in the top of the fourth inning, and Rancho Mirage tied it at 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth before Orcutt Academy scored two runs and three runs, respectively, in the final frames.
