Nintendo has announced that it will acquire Luigi’s Mansion 3 developer Next Level Games.You can read the notification of acquisition on Nintendo’s website, where it states that the deal is expected to close on March 1, 2021. According to Nintendo, the acquisition will “facilitate an anticipated improvement in development speed and quality by enabling closer communication and exchange of staff with the Nintendo development team”.Nintendo has been working with the Canadian developer for a long time now, with their relationship stretching all the way back to the release of Gamecube title Super Mario Strikers in 2005, which was developed by Next Level Games.
Since then the studio has worked on Mario Strikers Charged and Punch-Out!! for the Nintendo Wii, as well as Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon and Metroid Prime: Federation Force for the Nintendo 3DS.
