The Beavers (47-14-1) are one of five nationally seeded teams left standing in Omaha, after defeating Florida State in a decisive Game 3 in the Corvallis super regional. Five different players, including Gavin Turley, homered in an impressive offensive display.
A college baseball mainstay, the Beavers are set for their first CWS action since 2018, when they won the program’s third national title.
Next up for Oregon State is an ACC foe, with Louisville (40-22) back in the CWS for the first time since 2019. The Cardinals played a pivotal part in eliminating No. 1 Vanderbilt in regionals and then downed Miami in the super regional round last weekend. Eddie King Jr. drove in the eventual game-winning run in the winner-take-all Game 3.
Perhaps this is the year that Louisville wins the program’s first national championship. The journey begins on Friday night.
