The Gilded Age Season 3 Episode 7 ending has led many to believe that George Russell’s (Morgan Spector) story has come to an end. For those unfamiliar, throughout the latest season, he was focused on gaining control over the railway business. While he ultimately achieves his objectives, the bold moves he makes along the way earn him several powerful enemies, endangering his life toward the end of the episode.

This has led many to question whether his character will die or survive. Here are the details on what Spector said about his character’s fate.

Is Morgan Spector’s Russell leaving after The Gilded Age Season 3?

Spector could be leaving The Gilded Age after Season 3, as his contract has not been renewed for another season. Moreover, his character was shot in Episode 7.

In an interview with Variety, Spector addressed Episode 7’s ending, where a mysterious intruder enters the study and shoots his character. When asked whether fans should be concerned about Russell’s fate, he said,

“You should be very worried. In the 19th century, gunshot wounds from up close were extremely dangerous. Many people didn’t survive them.”

Additionally, he mentioned that his contract has not been renewed for another season. There is a possibility that his character may be declared dead and not return. He also shared how he felt after reading the script for Season 3, Episode 7 and his reaction to the ending:

“Those final scripts were a little delayed, so it took some time before I got them. But when I read the ending for that episode, I was just thrilled, because it’s such a left turn for our show. It’s totally historically accurate. This kind of thing happened during that era, but it doesn’t feel like ‘The Gilded Age.’”

The finale, which airs on August 10, 2025, will ultimately reveal Russell’s fate.
