Newcastle United have had a frustrating transfer window as they have struggled to secure their targets this summer despite having Champions League football and also offering more money.
They have only signed Anthony Elanga and are gaining ground on securing the signature of Malick Thiaw to fortify the defence.
According to reports via John Percy of The Telegraph, the Magpies are pushing for the signature of Leicester City star Bilal El Khannouss.
Newcastle United will be directly fighting for the 21-yar-old with Leeds United, who are also keen on securing the young attacking midfielder.
Eddie Howe desperately need depth in the final third and El Khannouss could be the best ‘cost effective’ option available in the market considering his capability of playing as a number 10 and also slotting in on the flanks.
El Khannouss has a reported release clause of £24.5m ($32.8m) which makes the entire deal more viable for Newcastle and other suitors who are interested in the Moroccan.

Who is Leicester City star Bilal El Khannouss?
El Khannous is one of the most talented players in the Leicester City setup despite being only 21 years of age.

The Moroccan international has exceptional close control, spatial awareness and is known for his ball carrying abilities. He is also capable of controlling the tempo whilst playing in a deeper role in midfield.
Although Leicester got relegated from the Premier League last season, El Khannouss featured in 36 appearances across all competitions registering three goals and five assists.
However, the Moroccan is far from just metrics on a stat sheet as he registered a couple of assists for the Foxes in their first Championship clash where they won 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.
Apart from the two assists, El Khannouss created four opportunities and also registered four ball recoveries while completing all three of his dribbles against Sheffield Wednesday.
Considering his skills and the release clause, it will be a huge task for Leicester City to keep hold of one of their most prized possessions beyond the summer transfer window.
