Both Plugerville Weiss and Barbers Hill had to wait a while to finally get around to having its Texas state playoff game.
Finally, on Saturday evening, the two teams are facing off in the UIL 5A Division I regional semifinals at Spring’s Planet Ford Stadium.

Saturday’s game was delayed from an afternoon start due to inclement weather in the area.
The Weiss-Barbers Hill winner advances to next week 5A DI Region III final against Port Arthur Memorial, which defeated College Station in its regional final on Friday.

FOURTH QUARTER
– Barbers Hill has a third-and-goal at the 1-yard line with 40 seconds left.

– FUMBLE RECOVERY WEISS. Wow, huge play from the Wolves’ defense as they force a fumble, and Jorian Guinn is right there to land on it. Weiss just past midfield with less than six minutes to go.
– Barbers Hill gets the ball back after forcing a punt and goes for it on fourth down in its own territory, and barely get the first down to keep the drive alive with less than seven minutes to go.
– Barbers Hill tries a long field goal from about 48 yards out but it comes up short. Weiss holds with 9:03 remaining.
– Weiss went for it on fourth down near its 30 but comes up short. Barbers Hill takes over with a short field and has a chance to tie or take the lead with less than 10 minutes left.
– TOUCHDOWN BARBERS HILL. Eagles make it a one-score game on the opening play of the final quarter, as Tripp Davis takes the snap, appears to get hit behind the line of scrimmage but is able to regain his balance and find a seam around the right side. (Weiss, 31-28 | 11:53, 4th)

– Barbers Hill inside the Weiss 20 after Tripp Davis catches a short pass and darts 44 yards upfield late in the third.
