New York Mets owner Steve Cohen must be happy.
It’s been quite the week for his franchise, which is trying to rebound from an epic collapse to miss the playoffs a season ago.
Just in the last week, they’ve landed a huge free agent signing and made two big trades.
First, they signed Bo Bichette to a three-year, $126 million deal (which includes opt-outs after each season). The former Toronto Blue Jays star is likely to slot in at third base for the Mets.

Then late Tuesday night, the Mets swung a deal for Luis Robert Jr., the toolsy centerfielder from the Chicago White Sox. He fills a hole the Mets had dealt with for the past year-plus.
And on Wednesday night, after Bichette had his introductory press conference during the day, the Mets completed a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers for right-handed pitcher Freddy Peralta. He becomes the ace the Mets so greatly needed a year ago.
Cohen chimed in after all the action with this post on X:
What an incredible week. Let’s go Mets !

There had been concerns that the Mets were having a quiet offseason. And based on what had happened in November, December and even midway through January, that was true.
But all of a sudden, the front office led by David Stearns sprang into action.
Now, the Mets clearly had a successful winter. It just required a bit of patience.
