Jets fan camps outside team facility, offers recon on prospective head coach Robert Saleh

Where’s the line between passion and obsession?

Jets fans, largely dealt nothing but sadness, disappointment and pain for the majority of the franchise’s existence, are constantly toeing that line. The latest example: a Jets fan performing a stakeout outside the team’s facility in Florham Park, N.J.

With reports swirling that 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh was visiting the Jets for a second interview for the team’s head-coach opening, Jets fans immediately shifted into Defcon 1 — apparently leading one fan to camp outside the facility to get a glimpse of Saleh.

The photos, definitely featuring the Jets training facility, appear to be taken near some bushes by the gravelly road. (Or, the parking lot.)

The fan would also tweet at around midnight Eastern time, letting others know that he was still in the bushes, and hadn’t been arrested just yet.

Saleh, one of the hottest coaching candidates of this hiring cycle, is reported to be the Jets’ No. 1 option to fill their head coaching vacancy this offseason. Reports indicated that he arrived in New Jersey late last night and is continuing meetings with the front office and ownership today, presumably to get a deal done.

As many as six teams have requested interviews for Saleh, with the Jets the first (and only) to want to bring him in for a second interview to this point.

Should he get a deal done and announced soon, maybe this fan will be the first to shake Saleh’s hand. If he’s still in the bushes.
