Lions trade proposal would change Eagles’ AJ Brown plan and hurt Patriots

By | April 21, 2026

Reports are now indicating that the Philadelphia Eagles are going to send A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots after June 1.

While a deal seems to be in place, it’s never out of the question to suggest that another team could swoop in and give the Eagles more of what they’re looking for. There hasn’t been a reported package for the Patriots, though the expectation is that Brown will still go for a somewhat hefty price.

He might not be as expensive as he once was, but he’s still an elite receiver and would be a big help for nearly every contending team in the NFL.

In a recent proposal in a deal to send him to the Detroit Lions, however, this is the type of trade that could entice Philadelphia more than what the Patriots might be willing to give them. Getting two first-round picks back, including a first-rounder, would be a great deal for the Eagles.

Lions get: Brown

Eagles get: 2027 1st Round Pick, 2027 2nd Round Pick, CB Ennis Rakestraw

“Brown has been unhappy in Philadelphia, as turmoil seems to linger in the depths. Not only is Brown unhappy, but reports have risen that the team is not too confident in Jalen Hurts. Locker-room issues lead to riskier business, and Howie Roseman may finally unload Brown if the price is right. That price will be a 1st- and 2nd-round pick, plus a depth piece of a 2nd-round pick in Rakestraw Jr., which the Lions could use,” Thomas Carelli wrote.

From the perspective of which team needs Brown more, the Patriots are probably at the top of that list.

Drake Maye is looking for a star receiver, and Brown would provide them with that. However, there’s also something to be said about the Lions’ offense being one of the best in the NFL and adding a player of Brown’s caliber.
