It’s no secret that Draymond Green has never been afraid of sharing his honest thoughts with the public. His latest share involved how he believes Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has “hindered” his career and what he could have become.
On an episode of his own podcast that aired on April 29, Green expressed some feelings about his relationship with Kerr. He believes that Kerr began involving Green less in the team’s plays, and that his career may have fallen flatter than it could have been.
Despite his four championship rings, Green desired a higher volume on the offensive side after he averaged career highs in points and rebounds prior to Durant’s arrival in Golden State.

What did Draymond Green say about Steve Kerr?
On April 29, Green discussed his relationship with the Warriors’ head coach on The Draymond Green Show. Over time, their relationship became complicated largely due to Green’s on-court antics and the addition of Durant. Green was reacting to a recent New Yorker article in which Kerr was interviewed.
After a December incident courtside, the forward addressed Kerr and said, “I don’t think you like me, I don’t think you’ve ever liked me if I’m honest.” Green stated that this moved the coach to tears after hearing this.
Green continued at Kerr, saying, “As much as he’s done for me in basketball, a part of me thinks he’s hindered me in my career and what I could’ve become.”

Draymond Green’s stats during Kevin Durant-Warriors era
On his podcast, Green insinuated that his numbers have fallen since Durant joined the Warriors in 2016. Green has played for Golden State since he was selected No. 35 in the 2012 NBA Draft.

In Green’s defense, his scoring did go down once Durant joined Golden State. The year before he arrived in 2016, Green averaged his career highs in 14 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
NBA fans will never know for sure if Green hasn’t had a play drawn up highlighting him, but his stats did show declines once Durant arrived in the Bay Area.
