Fever’s Caitlin Clark recorded more jersey sales in the U.S. than all but one NBA player

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark’s popularity is through the roof.

The former Iowa star entered the WNBA in 2024 with a reputation as an awe-inspiring three-point sniper, a gifted distributor, and an underrated trash talker who’s confident in her abilities. So far, the 24-year-old has lived up to the billing, putting the Fever on her back on multiple occasions, dropping dimes regularly, and jawing with opponents after making highlight-worthy contributions.

Clark is currently averaging 23.8 points, 9.0 assists, and 4.4 rebounds with Indiana, shooting 43.2% from the field and 34.8% from three-point land. How popular is Clark exactly? Well, the two-time WNBA All-Starreportedly has more jersey sales in the U.S. than all but one NBA player.

“Per multiple reports, the Indiana Fever superstar has officially surpassed LeBron James on the jersey sales list over the last two years,” USA Today’s Meghan L. Hall wrote Friday. “Clark now sits in second place on the leaderboard, just behind Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry.”

“Clark’s sales are more than those of James (third) and Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic (fourth). San Antonio Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama rounds out the top sellers list at five.”

If Hall’s report doesn’t show just how well Clark is perceived nationwide, what else will? The 2024 WNBA assists leader’s on-court magic and enticing personality have resonated well with fans across the country, compelling many to purchase her jersey and wear it proudly.

Trailing Curry is nothing to be ashamed of, as the four-time NBA champion has a case for being arguably the greatest shooter and most influential player of all time.

The 38-year-old has inspired a new generation of hoopers to add deep off the dribble and stationary three-point shooting to their arsenals, given it’s worked well for him thus far (he’s made 4,248 total threes and boasts a remarkable 42.2% long-range shooting percentage).

Simply put, it isn’t surprising that Clark and Curry hold the top two spots regarding jersey sales in late May.
