Here’s how DR Congo can qualify for World Cup Round of 32 with this result vs. Uzbekistan

By | June 27, 2026

DR Congo has a chance to make World Cup history on Saturday.

The African nation is looking to reach the knockout stages at the World Cup for the first time, and the path to do so against Uzbekistan is relatively simple.

DR Congo has so far drawn with Portugal and lost to Colombia. They’ve got the on-paper easiest opponent in their group saved for last.

And in this case, they know exactly what they need.

How does DR Congo advance at the World Cup?

It’s simple: Win.

If DR Congo defeats Uzbekistan, they will advance to the World Cup Round of 32 — and based on the bracket, it looks like they’ll match up with England.

A draw would not be enough. That would leave DR Congo on 2 points, and they’d go home.

A win, though, gets them to the magic number of 4 points that would get them through as a third-place team.

If DR Congo pulls this off, it’ll be magnificent. They’ve only ever played at the World Cup once before — that was in 1974, when the country was known as Zaire.

In that appearance, they didn’t score a single goal.

This time around, DR Congo is on the verge of its greatest sporting moment.
