Zack Snyder is known for taking on some huge properties in his career as a filmmaker, but there’s one beloved franchise he doesn’t think he’d make it out of if he got the chance.

Speaking with The Times, Snyder was asked about his process as a director, and he dove into how he likes to come into projects with a specific point of view, and thus doesn’t always fit with everything.

“Where it gets difficult is when you take a director with a personal point of view and ask him to participate in a thing that is not asking for that,” Snyder said. “The journeyman filmmaker? There are a lot of them, and they’re good. I just happen to have a specific point of view.”

Snyder went on to say that he’s learned that it’s much easier for him to create his own world rather than try to fit himself into something that won’t work. As an example, he said that he’d love to make a Star Wars film, but knows it couldn’t work. “The lesson I’ve learned is it’s much easier for me, as a filmmaker, to create a world and invite you into it. As opposed to me saying, ‘Let me put my cog in your wheel.’ Like, I would love to make a Star Wars movie. I know a lot about it…but I don’t think I would survive that.”

Despite the joke, Snyder has worked on a ton of iconic franchises in the past, including the world of 300, Dawn of the Dead, and a handful of DC properties as well. Currently, Snyder is working on Army of the Dead, a film that takes place following a zombie outbreak that has left Las Vegas in ruins and walled off from the rest of the world.
