A24 has finally released the full The Green Knight trailer for David Lowery’s long-delayed medieval fantasy film starring Dev Patel and Alicia Vikander. The video features Patel’s Sir Gawain as he accepts the titular knight’s combat challenge that will lead him into a life-changing and mystical journey for honor. It also provides us our first look at the creatures that Sir Gawain will encounter in his journey including a talking fox and giants. The film is currently slated to debut in theaters on Friday, July 30, 2021.

Based on the timeless Arthurian legend, The Green Knight is being described as an epic fantasy adventure with visionary filmmaker David Lowery putting a fresh and bold spin on a classic tale from the knights of the round table. It stars Dev Patel, Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, Sarita Choudhury, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Barry Keoghan, and Ralph Ineson.
The film centers around King Arthur’s reckless and headstrong nephew named Sir Gawain, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men. Gawain contends with ghosts, giants, thieves, and schemers in what becomes a deeper journey to define his character and prove his worth in the eyes of his family and kingdom by facing the ultimate challenger.

Directed and written by David Lowery, the film is based on the poem of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Producers are Lowery, Toby Halbrooks (Pete’s Dragon), and James M. Johnston (A Ghost Story) through their Sailor Bear banner along with Ley Line Entertainment’s Tim Headington and Theresa Steele Page. Bron’s Aaron L.
