Peyton Manning is back in the NFL with the Broncos — kind of

“The Sheriff” is back in town.

Peyton Manning, world-renowned comedian and guy who used to throw footballs around for a living, is back in the NFL with the Denver Broncos — kind of. The Hall of Famer landed a gig with the Broncos as an intern in the team’s schedule release video on Wednesday.

In the video, Manning takes on the challenge of being an intern and is given the opportunity to release the team’s 2021 schedule. And as you can expect, the entire clip is riddled with jokes and that classic Manning humor.

You can check it out here:

“Beat them, beat them, destroyed them,” Manning says of the schedule in the video. There’s a little bit of extra juice on “destroyed,” likely referring to the Broncos’ Week 3 opponent, the Jets.

Also in the video is Manning mentioning Extension 509: If those digits sound familiar, it’s the number of touchdowns Manning threw to break the all-time NFL record, which he set with Denver.

The Broncos’ effort at a schedule release video is probably second to only the Chargers, who put together an absolutely hilarious video featuring Joey Bosa, Zoom and PowerPoint.

A question remains, though: Did the Colts extend an offer to Manning for a similar position?

Hopefully Manning can spin this internship into something positive and permanent with Denver.

If not, maybe he can apply for Sporting News’ fall internship.
