Grace and Grit, based on Ken Wilber’s acclaimed book of the same name, tells the true love story of iconic philosopher Ken Wilber (Townsend) and his wife Treya (Suvari) in 1980s California as they fall madly in love and are faced with illness and challenges that threaten to tear them apart.

The movie, written and adapted by Siegel, also stars Academy Award nominee Mariel Hemingway (Manhattan, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace), Frances Fisher (The Host, Titanic, Watchmen), Rebekah Graf (Walker, The Dirt, Entourage), Nick Stahl (Sin City, Fear the Walking Dead, Hunter Hunter), and Brian McGovern (Vantage Point, Prefontaine, Rules of Engagement).

The synopsis for Wilbur’s book (pick up a copy here) reads: “Heartfelt, deeply moving, and incredibly real, this narrative shares the five-year journey of philosopher Ken Wilber and his wife, Treya Killam Wilber, through Treya’s illness, treatment, and death. Ken’s wide-ranging commentary—which questions conventional and New Age approaches to illness and reaches beyond the experience to find wisdom in pain—is combined with Treya’s journals to create a portrait of health and healing, wholeness and harmony, and suffering and surrender.”
