Netflix is one of the biggest media companies in the world as one of the leading platforms for streaming and producing movies and television shows. However, it seems the company is expanding its horizons as they are reportedly looking to hire an executive to oversee a video games division.

According to The Information’s Nick Wingfield and Jessica Toonkel, Netflix has approached veteran game industry executives about the new position within the past few weeks. Exactly who these veterans are is not known.

The publication also reports Netflix is trying to expand its gaming efforts. How the media company will accomplish, that is still unknown. However, a source says one option that was discussed was similar to Apple’s Apple Arcade subscription service. This essentially means several games would be made available to those who subscribed to the service.

Netflix has dabbled in interactive entertainment in the past. In terms of a traditional video game release, the media company used an outside developer, BonusXP, to make Stranger Things 3: The Game. It was the official companion game to the third season of the hit original sci-fi series.

Netflix is also responsible for Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. Starring Fionn Whitehead and Will Poulter, the film is set in 1980s England as a young programmer named Stefan Butler (Whitehead) is developing a “choose your own adventure” game. The film itself is interactive and plays like the very game Butler is trying to create, allowing you to make choices that affect the story. There are five main endings to the film. It was written by Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker and directed by David Slade.
