Bray Wyatt is one of the most popular Superstars that WWE has on their roster, but he’s been off television for a while. Alexa Bliss has filled in for Wyatt, but it’s just not the same. That absence has caused some to become very critical of WWE’s creative vision for Bray Wyatt.
The Momo Challenge is nothing like the Firefly Fun House, but at least one person disagrees. That viral challenge was rumored to cause people to go into dangerous episodes of self harm an even suicide. The madness was allegedly sparked by an image of a disturbing smiling sculpture.
During the Legion of RAW show, former WWE writer Vince Russo buried Bray Wyatt’s gimmick. He said that WWE took it too far as they ripped off the popular momo meme for Wyatt’s new persona.
“Here’s what happens with these talents – they get to a point of no return where they know that we can’t fix this now. I found out something very interesting this week. I did not know this. I got smartened up. Did you know of this thing, this momo thing? This momo gimmick? A scary character that was just popping up. Bro, do you know that Bray Wyatt based that character and the Funhouse and the kids and all that stuff off of that momo craze. And now when you look back at it, that all makes sense now. Bro, that was the idea in his head and that was his vision and look.”
The momo meme is quite disturbing and has caused many nightmares. There is nothing haunted or cursed about the photo. The reality is that Japanese artist Keisuke Aiso confirmed in March 2019 that the sculpture had been thrown away two years prior.
We’re still waiting to see what WWE does with Bray Wyatt’s storyline. Hopefully, it doesn’t end up with the momo sculpture in a trash bin.
