Aleister Black Says It Was A Hassel Keeping AEW Contract Under Wraps

By | July 8, 2021

Aleister Black showed up in AEW and he’s a very different star now. His WWE contract had a 30-day non-compete clause instead, and that allowed him to show up in another company much sooner than anyone expected. Keeping all that a secret was a harder task to accomplish than you would think.

Malakai Black logged onto Twitch where he spoke openly about his new AEW deal and how it came about. He said that an idea was devised once they figured out that his contract was a bit different. That was still a bit of a hassle.

“It was a hassle to keep under wraps. Once I found out that my contract was a tad different than the usual, I just came up with this idea. I had already made the character movie and I came up with this idea and the company liked it so we ran with it. It was all very last second. I feel like, in modern day wrestling, there are few moments to make a genuine surprise and get people to look your way. For me to sneak in, not be seen, dip and dive so they wouldn’t see me, that took some skill. Kudos to AEW and the entire crew. What a great operation they have there,”

Malakai Black is just getting started in AEW and he’s already drawing a ton of attention. We’ll have to see what’s next for him at this point, but he finally has that creative freedom that so many hoped for Aleister Black for the past half a decade.
