Is D’Andre Swift playing on Monday night? Fantasy injury update for Lions-Packers Week 2 Monday Night Football

By | September 19, 2021

Fantasy football owners were burned last week by Sunday morning reports that indicated D’Andre Swift would be playing a significantly reduced role despite not even being listed on the Lions final injury report. Many benched Swift and watched through gritted teeth as he handled 19 touches for 104 total yards and a TD. Heading into Monday Night Football against the Packers, Swift is listed as “questionable” due to the groin injury that plagued him all preseason. Fantasy owners are likely frustrated, and that ugly red “Q” next to Swift’s name is undoubtedly causing a little bit of worry as they finalize their Week 2 start ’em, sit ’em decisions and search for the latest updates.

We’re here to help, and we’ll continue to update this post with news on Swift until the final active/inactive report comes out on Monday around 6:45 p.m. ET. WEEK 2 FANTASY: Sleepers | Busts | Start ’em, sit ’em

Is D’Andre Swift playing on Monday night?

Despite playing (and excelling) in Week 1 and practicing all week (including a full session on Saturday), Swift (groin) was still listed as “questionable” for Monday night’s game in Green Bay. It’s tough to imagine Swift being ruled out, though. In fact, if the NFL still had the “probable” designation, it’s likely Swift would have that tag.

WEEK 2 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End | D/ST | Kicker

After Swift played so well last week despite reports that he would be used “sparingly,” his fantasy owners — especially those who benched him — are likely in no mood for Dan Campbell’s games, so our best advice is to proceed as if Swift is healthy and in no danger of missing Monday night’s game. That said, because he plays on Monday, it’s always smart to put him in your “flex” spot as opposed to an RB spot. That way, if he is a surprise scratch, you can sub in an RB, WR, or TE.

WEEK 2 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End | D/ST | Kicker

Your best fill-in options are a Packers WR (Marquez Valdez-Scantling, Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard) or a Lions WR (Quintez Cephus, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Khalif Raymond). Jamaal Williams will be Swift’s direct replacement, but he’s owned in 82 percent of Yahoo leagues. If you handcuffed Swift with Williams, just sub in Williams, but, again, it doesn’t seem like Swift is in any serious danger of missing Monday’s game.
