Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings continues to dominate the domestic box office with a stellar $21.7 million (-37%) in its third weekend. That tally places the Marvel blockbuster as the second-best third weekend for a September release right behind Warner Bros.’ It, which grossed $29.75 million back in 2017.

To date, Shang-Chi has collected $176.9 million domestically, where it ranks just behind Black Widow ($183.2 million) as the second-highest-grossing Hollywood pandemic release. Worldwide, the pic has earned an impressive $320 million — including $21.8 million from the UK, $12.6 million from Korea, $9.2 million from France, $7.6 million from Russia, and $7 million from Japan.
Meanwhile, Free Guy earned another $5.2 million in its sixth weekend, raising its domestic tally to $108.6 million. Worldwide, the Disney pic has grossed $189.7 million, mostly thanks to China where audiences have shelled out $85.6 million.
The other big news is Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, which bowed in 24 international markets and collected a better-than-expected $36.8 million. Comparatively, the sci-fi actioner is tracking 4% ahead of Tenet, 33% ahead of Black Widow, 52% ahead of Blade Runner 2049, 58% above Shang-Chi, and 80% of Godzilla vs. Kong. The pic earned $3.6 million from 142 IMAX screens, where it features over an hour of expanded aspect ratio.
